When it comes to living with double chin, long gone are the days of chinning and bearing it. Now, with Kybella, SheerSculpt patients can say goodbye to their double chin forever.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is a revolutionary product that helps you get rid of stubborn fat under the chin. It is a form of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance that seeks out and eliminates fat cells. Once the cells are destroyed, the target area is prevented from storing fat in the future.
How does Kybella work?
Kybella is injected into the target areas located underneath the chin using a small needle. The purpose of Kybella is to destroy any unwanted fat cells. It’s also able to be used to reduce fat in other bulges of fat such as the fat around the knee or in front of the underarms.
What can I expect from Kybella treatment?
The treatment is usually fast and efficient for most patients. As for the swelling, it will go down within five to seven days after treatment. Many patients often need to have about two to four treatments that are broken up between four to six weeks. Kybella comes in vials and the amount needed depends on the patient and the size of their double chin.
Sadly, Kybella is not able to be used for other areas of the neck such as the face or body. In addition, Kybella does not enhance neckbands, corrects the fullness of the neck or tighten the skin around it. In order to be qualified to receive Kybella, an in-office consultation by a board-certified plastic surgeon is required.
What are the risks and side effects of Kybella?
Although Kybella is a minimally invasive procedure, there are risks and side effects involved. A few of the most common side effects include bruising, swelling, pain, redness and numbness.
As with any cosmetic procedure, there are possible risks associated with Kybella treatment. These include uneven smile, weakness in the facial muscles, difficulty with swallowing and an injury the nerves in the jaw. Be sure to discuss your past medical history with your provider prior to undergoing treatment.
Who is a good candidate for Kybella?
Anyone who has fullness and unwanted fat deposits underneath their chin are good candidates. Keep in mind that Kybella does not remove any skin, so anyone who is looking to get rid of any sagging skin is not a good candidate. If you have any problems with swallowing or suffers from bleeding problems, do not get Kybella.
How soon can I start to see results of my Kybella treatment?
Compared to Botox treatment, which has results that last only a few months, Kybella is able to last up to years. You’ll begin to see the results after four to six weeks have passed after the initial treatment. Of course, there’s going to be some minor bruising and swelling, like we mentioned before, but they’ll clear up in about a week.
